Clay is an up and coming blues guitar singer/songwriter. His soulful expressions are his unmistakable trademark, and his stage presence is reminiscent of Hendrix and SRV but with a groove inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye and other Motown greats.
Clay recorded his first originals in 2008 as he broke onto the Houston music scene. He divides his time between Houston and Austin while continuing to write songs. In September 2008, he was invited to perform at a Hurricane Ike Recovery gathering in Houston. Clay wrote “Ike Shuffle†for the occasion – a song that illustrates his unique style, rhythm and command of the guitar.
His influences include Robert Johnson, Albert King, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Marvin Gaye, Hendrix, SRV and Buddy Guy.
Clay is finding his audience by playing the blues like it ought to be played - with 100% soul.
