Glasnost was formed out of two electronic bands that realized there was something to be said for live rock show performances. By taking the elements of pop bands such a New Order, Cut Copy etc and combining it with the energy and sound of a live rock show a unique sound and experience was formed.
Influences include Cut Copy, New Order, MSTRKRFT and Justice, Midnight Juggernauts, Gang of Four, etc.. Glasnost is unique in that the sound is never that of typical guitar rock but rather strives for layered vocals, driving dance beats using a live acoustic set drummer, and multi-layered instrumentation. All musicians perform on multiple instruments throughout the set as deemed suitable for the composition. Glasnost is comprised of musicians who have been playing live for 5-10 years each in various musical ventures. Typical draw at Glasnost shows is on the order of 100-400 people, though Glasnost has played in front of doors as large as 2000+, opening for national and internationally touring acts such as Digitalism and Miho Hatori from Cibo Matto.

Today, her songwriting reflects those origins, as well as her love of the country music she found in her parents’ record collection. Often compared stylistically to Johnny Cash, with a delivery that’s raw and bare boned, Glenna Bell captures the very essence of how country music was, is and should always be. Everyone in the path of Glenna Bell’s music has been moved and she has gained the elusive respect of many fellow musicians and peers. Gospel In Song is a very diverse group that has been playing together now close to 20 years, and if that weren't enough the band continues to this day with all of the original members. We are able to minister to the lost (as well as the saved) through a wide margin of musical styles that include southern, rock-a-billy, country, blues, traditional as well as praise and worship. Gospel In Song will change music styles to fit the situation and we can also perform as an acoustic set, without drums. The band always plays to their full albilty and never use a standard setlist or song structer and sometimes can play songs that are made up on the spot, showcasing their musicianship playing music together as "one" unit.
